I think this movie was an improvement over the last one but agree that it suffers from really strange pacing.
Full-movie summaries leaked about a month before this one was actually released and even though I didn't read any details, I heard a LOT of frustrated reactions so I somewhat knew what to expect--I think that made it easier when we didn't get any really answers regarding certain topics. I'm okay with waiting for things to unfold, but if we don't get at least some answers by the next movie it's just going to be irritating. The way this one ended gives me hope that movie 3 will have no choice but to address certain things about certain missing characters... but being a Digimon fan means never having to say "I have high expectations and trust how the writers will handle this".
Also the Digimon look really bizarre to me in this style a lot of the time, too--part of it is that they're all drawn using thick lines. It might be a stylistic choice so they look 'abnormal' in the real world but I don't really have that much faith in Toei.
